The Discovery back chair was designed to specifically address users seeking to promote a healthier seating posture. The unique "Pear-Shaped" design of the backrest permits a seated user's shoulder blades to travel more fully rearward. This prevents what ergonomists and health care professionals call scapular impedance. The shoulder blades are the basis of all arm movement and minimizing this scapular impedance is crucial to proper posture and health.
Various arm options are available. We recommend adjustable width, height, and swivel for most people. Many experts recommend not using arms if you do not have pain or injury and this is possible too.
These chairs differ from the DB task chairs in that they have a wider and taller back. They are also upgraded with a DCS Memory Foam seat that makes those long days much more comfortable. This combines a firm high–resiliency foam base with a molded memory foam layer on top. You won’t believe how comfortable it is.
Teknit is a 3-dimensional stretch fabric that adds comfort and style and is our recommended fabric. All of the fabrics on these models are the same price so as long as you don't work somewhere that the fabric will get snagged treat yourself to the Teknit. Decorative fabric is also available for environments where fabric snags can occur.
